FAQs

Q: What types of art can we request

A: I only do customs where I have full creative control. I do ask that you send in high quality reference images but please note that I will put my own style and desired aesthetic on each custom. Please send High Resolution reference images to [email protected]. I will not copy another artist work (exceptions are made when I have obtained reproduction rights) so if you are looking for an EXACT copy of your images I recommend reaching out to the original artist for reproduction. Please take note that my art style is horror based, however, I'm willing to do anime, cartoon etc designs if requested.
**I do NOT do hyperrealism, realism or pet portraits.

Q: What is your pricing

A: Prices vary greatly and depend on the design, bag and amount of detail/coverage. I aim to create unique or one of a kind items so I rarely replicate a design unless specifically asked to do so, therefore my prices will reflect accordingly. Certain bags are harder for me to procure then others so they too will be priced accordingly. The best way to obtain a non committal quote is to submit an inquiry through the contact page.

Q: Why is it so expensive its just a bag?

A: Please keep in mind that art is a luxury item. You are not paying for just the bag, you are paying for artwork. Each piece goes through an artistic process where design, space, color, and even texture are considered before its even begun. Artwork on canvas sells upwards of 10,000 and that just sits on your wall. The artwork sold by Stephena Dunn Art is often featured on a unique canvas and in some instances you can take that art from your home and showcase it, if you chose to do so. So when you think about it, you are getting something more unique, for significantly less.

Q: Should I use my bag everyday?

A: It recommended to only use your bags sporadically, such as comic cons, meet and greets, signings etc. Although items are always sealed with multiple layers, all artwork should be treated as a collectible. The more you use the the more wear on the bag and the increased likelihood of damage because lets be real, accidents happen.

Q: How do I order a custom?

A: Please fill out the form in the "contacts" tab to obtain a quote. There are no obligations when asking for a quote or a commission and I won't press you about ordering so please feel free to reach out. Prices may go up or down depending on product availability and market price. FREE SHIPPING (for customs, not ready to ship items) is included in all prices but tax is not. All commissions are to be PAID IN FULL before any work is done. Once a commission is accepted you have 24 hours to pay your invoice or it will be cancelled. Please keep in mind that this is a small business, I'm a one woman show, and there is often a waitlist!

Q: What is your turn around time & why so long?

A: For BAGS/SHOES the turnaround time is UP TO 12 weeks.

For OIL PAINTINGS: Oil paintings can take up to 6 months for completion.  I also don't work wet on wet (alla prima) meaning each layer is completely dry before the next layer is placed on top. Once the painting is complete it will cure for 30 days. After it has cured, I will apply a varnish to bring it back to life. The varnish will dry for 1-2 weeks. Once the varnish is dry the piece is ready to ship or be picked up.

Furthermore, we are a special needs home and I strive to take my time and love with each piece! Additionally, each custom has a different process and requires several layers plus dry time! I don't keep inventory, so often times I have to order product which requires shipping. This turnaround also accounts for not only shipping to me but to you. It also allows for any shipping delays or mishaps, and in the event that I have to return damaged items or don't receive an item it wont delay your custom. I may also have a list of customs to get through prior to yours so this allows for adequate time to process all orders. This is really a coverall, worst case scenario. I try to get items out ASAP but things happen.

Q: I ordered an order/ custom but have to cancel it. Do you do refunds?

A: Cancellations and custom adjustments are allowed within 24 hours of purchase. A partial refund will be given, ( minus the processing fees taken at the time of purchase). Processing fees vary and are based on payment method of choice. Stephena Dunn Art has no control over processing fees and is not liable for the loss of funds in the event of a cancellation. After 24 hours it is too late to cancel OR make adjustments as I have already started working on your custom or started processing your order for shipment. Please see "policies" page for more information on refunds https://stephenadunnart.bigcartel.com/policies

Q: Do you send progress pics of customs?

A: I do not. The early stages of painting are ugly and it can be misleading for your final result but I will send progress pics if requested. I think being surprised is just more fun!! Please note, not liking the progress pictures is not grounds for cancellations or refunds.

Q: How do I clean my item?

A: All items, unless stated otherwise are spot clean ONLY with a damp cloth and dried immediately. Never submerge items in soap and water as this will strip the sealant off. Don't overwork or excessively rub item. Never use harsh chemicals, detergents or solvents to clean any custom. Angelus Direct/Alpha6corp paints are meant to withstand cleaning to remove scuffs, dirt etc but they are not indestructible. Always use care and caution when cleaning items, Stephena Dunn Art is not responsible for any damage of item once received or during the cleaning process. See a list of "care instructions" here https://stephenadunnart.bigcartel.com/care-instructions

Q: How do I store my oil paintings?

A: Oil paintings displayed in home/office etc should always be kept out of direct sunlight and extreme humidity (i.e bathrooms). Oil paintings kept in storage should only be wrapped in Glassine Paper. Never use bubble wrap to wrap ANY paintings as it will leave imprints that cannot be fixed. Never store in extreme temperatures!!
